Keshari Kund Declared Off-Limits Following Drowning Tragedy

In a tragic turn of events, the Keonjhar district administration has designated Keshari Kund, located at Sarei village near the Baitarani River, as a no-entry zone following the drowning of two students. This decision was made on Saturday, just a day after the unfortunate incident.

To enhance safety, officials have commenced fencing around the area to restrict public access. Sub-Collector Umakant Parida, during his visit to the site, emphasized the need for warning signs to alert visitors about the dangers of the location.

Parida instructed Karanjia Revenue Inspector Chinmaya Mohanta to utilize a loudspeaker system to raise awareness among the community regarding the new restrictions. He was accompanied by Champua police IIC Debaki Nayak, tehsildar Sajat Marke, Assistant Collector Samarendra Das, and Champua RI Sampad Pradhan during his inspection.

Local resident Dasharu Nayak, who played a crucial role in recovering the victims' bodies, received praise for his bravery. Officials spoke with him to gather insights into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
